La Palmyre  A modern, seaside resort whose main attractions are the marvellous expanses of sandy beaches which stretch for miles and an exceptionally sunny and warm climate. In addition the village itself has a big traffic-free shopping centre with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. There is a children’s amusement park, a zoo, mini-golf, riding and tennis courts and a harbour where you can organise boat and fishing trips. There is an 18-hole golf course at St. Palais and a race course in La Palmyre. Royan, an elegant and established resort is twenty minutes’ drive away and from here you can take a ferry to the other side of the Gironde where you can visit the famous vineyards of the Médoc and even spend a day in Bordeaux. |
